Some trend setting uses of aluminium in the packaging sector

Amid increasing innovations and experiments in the packaging industry, the significant demand and uses of aluminium are undeniable. The more the consumer preference is shifting to sustainable and environment-friendly packaging solutions, the more the ingenious uses of aluminium are being reported in the packaging sector. Indeed, world-leading packaging companies like Ball Corporation and Crown Holdings are contributing to the innovations, while many others are stepping to the fore.

As the demand for unique aluminium packaging is expanding from beverage cans to personal care and packaged food, Trivium Packaging, one of the leading providers of high-quality and recyclable metal packaging, has recently announced its debut in a new kind of aluminium packaging product. As per the report, the company plans to create aluminium closures for liquid edible oil, which can generate potential profit for the business. This is the first time aluminium has been modified to be acceptable for edible oil closures, despite the metal having long been utilised for more conventional huge tins or aerosol containers.

Bravo Sierra, the men’s care company built exclusively for US military personnel, is introducing refillable body wash in a recyclable aluminium container from October 18. The refill cans for Bravo Sierra Body Wash are the most practical and environmentally friendly option to restock because they are constructed of 100 per cent endlessly recyclable aluminium.

Last month, the US-based health drinks company Hylux unveiled its unflavoured spring water in a new recyclable, customisable aluminium bottle. The bottles feature resealable caps for multiple times usage and once recycled, can be transformed into new bottles in as little as 60 days. Initially, the bottles will be available to selective organisations to sell and distribute within their networks, with Northeastern University’s Boston campus being the first customer.

Novelis Inc., an American industrial aluminium company, launched its new laminated aluminium surfaces for beverage can ends at ALUMINIUM 2022 in Düsseldorf. Laminated with black film, the can ends are particularly popular in premium and innovative beverage products. The laminating film is free of Bisphenol A (BPA) and per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and meets all food and beverage industry requirements.

Observing such incredible innovations with aluminium packaging, Sonali Paper and Board Mill Ltd, a paper manufacturer from Bangladesh, has also decided to set its first foot in the aluminium sector by beginning commercial production of its latest product line of aluminium foil papers. During during filing the details at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), Sonali Paper and Board Mill Ltd claimed that the aluminium foil plant’s production capacity is estimated to be 2.8 crore pieces each year, which would yield an annual revenue of Tk19.6 crore.

Headquartered in Sweden, Emballator, a packaging unit, has just launched its six mono-material PE or aluminium tubes made with green energy, namely, twist off Recap, twist off Reseal, twist off reclose aluminium and capped aluminium tube models. The entire range was created using mono- material PE, post-consumer recycled aluminium and aluminium. The tubes can be custom made according to medicinal specifications for pharmaceutical uses or standard grades.

Consumer Convenience Technologies (CCT) has created a new aluminium lug jar lid. CCT’s unique EEASY Lid can be opened easily by pushing a button on the lid, which means that the torque needed to twist off a jar lid is decreased by more than 58 per cent for classic lug lids and by 40 per cent for ordinary continuous thread (CT) lids.

Taking a step closer to a sustainable and eco-friendly environment, Organic Oral Care (ORL) has introduced new recyclable aluminium bottles for its expanding line of mouthwashes. These new eco- friendly bottles are lighter, environmentally responsible, and shatterproof than their original glass counterparts.
