Government has issued the Aluminium and Aluminium Alloy (Quality Control) Order, 2023. Goods or articles specified in below table shall bear the Standard Mark under a license from the Bureau as per Scheme-1 of Schedule-II of the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018.
BIS Certification (ISI Mark) is mandatory for the manufacturers of various aluminium and aluminium alloy products listed in BIS mandatory Product Scheme. To obtain ISI Mark for their products, the manufacturers must go through the following procedure listed for foreign manufacturers as well as Indian domestic manufacturers.
Product Certification Scheme (ISI MARK) :
BIS operates a product certification scheme, also known as an ISI mark certification scheme, for the purpose of granting a licence to a manufacturer in accordance with the conformity assessment scheme - I of Schedule II of the BIS (Conformity Assessment) Regulation, 2018.
Why BIS Certification is important?
In the wake of Self Reliant India Campaign (Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan), Government has developed Integrated Economic Packages to pump money in the industry in order to develop and attain self-reliance.
The ongoing growth and consolidation of industry presents an opportunity to global players to enter the Indian market. It is essential for the manufacturers, traders and other important stakeholders of the industry to be updated and understand the relevant Government policies, and new notifications from BIS. As being updated and compliant with government rules and regulations plays important role in hazel free and smooth process at Customs, obtaining BIS Certifications and for similar operations.
As part of this Campaign, Ministry of Commerce Industry and Ministry of Mines has published the Quality control order for various Aluminum and Aluminum alloy products. According to that all manufacturer of the product covered in QCO has to get BIS License before the effective date.
