Description

Scot Cover- GR 520 is a granulated flux suitable for drossing and cleaning of all types of Aluminium alloys in High Pressure Die Casting Process with the exception of AIMg alloys where even a slight sodium pick-up must be avoided. Scot- Cover GR 520 can be used on medium to low metal temperature such as in high pressure die casting foundries. Skimming is facilitated and metal loss due to Aluminium entrapment in the dross is reduced since Scot-Cover GR 520 produce dry ash-like dross that is easily separated from the liquid metal.

Specifications
Application temperature: 680-730 Degrees C

Application
Purpose: Scot-Cover GR 520 can be used on medium to low metal temperature like in high pressure die casting foundries to facilitate ease of skimming and reduce metal loss in the dross. Benefits : Scot- Cover GR 520 is specially developed to be environmentally friendly. It is dust free in use and emits low fume during application, Granulated fluxes can be used at reduced application rates compared to powder fluxes. Instruction for use : The best application of Scot-Cover GR 520 is dosing into the pouring stream during the filling of transport ladles or crucibles. Alternatively it can be added to the metal surface after transfer is complete. If an FDU impeller treatment is being used the flux will react easily resulting in a light and dry dross. If no impeller treatment is taking place then the flux must be stirred vigorously with a preheated perforated ladle unit a dry dross is achieved. After the reaction is completed the dross should be carefully removed using an appropriate skimming tool.
